Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Glacier Valley Church of God is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads to our region, state and overseas to every nation . Glacier Valley Church of God members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as vacuuming, to preparing the church bulletins. There are numerous opportunities to get involved, here are a few:
Prayer Warriors
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Glacier Valley is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Every Tuesday is Intercessory Prayer at 7 pm. Before services a time of prayer has been designated specifically to see the power and presence of God manifested in our services. In every service a time of prayer is offered and prayer warriers are needed to help break through and minister to every need that is brought to this church body.
Ushers and Greeters
We are in need of more ushers and greeters. The usher team at Glacier Valley fill an important role. They are involved welcoming our guest, greeting our members, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding attendees to their respective classes, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Glacier Valley Church of God that we are just embarking on. In an age of widespread technology, we have a sense of obligation to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. We hope to start uploading our weekly church service messages on our website in audio formats. We maintain an active Facebook account for additional church communication. Our website will need updates and input to stay current and relevant as a communication and informational tool. Our powerpoint development and projection requires a significant amount of effort to maintain visual aides during the worship and preaching. The sound system is a very technical and critical component of our services success to that all can hear the worship and Word. The hearing assistance units are also a valuable asset that aide the hearing impaired and require regular maintenance.
Music
God-honoring worship that ushers in the presence of God and lifts up the name of Jesus is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists and some offer special songs. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Glaciery Valley, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.
Children’s Church Classes
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Glacier Valley holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from interactive videos, to games, to object lessons.
Sunday School Teachers
Sunday school is an important discipleship event held every Sunday morning. There are faithful teachers who engage the class attendees on prepared lessons that they have prayed and studied for. Our teachers at Glacier Valley pack in a great amount of Biblical education in a short time before our main worship service.
Church Van
Many people just cannot make it to church without some means of transportation. Some in our congregation no longer drive or do not have a vehicle or are too young to drive. This is a tremendous ministry that takes dedicated and caring people to pick up and drop off those wishing to attend our services. It helps to have a handful of volunteers so that it is not too great a burden on any one person. It is a great way to get to know people better and they all really appreciate this service.
Church Maintenance
Our church has a pretty full schedule with all sort of uses throughout the week. This creates routine upkeep needs as well as the occasional maintenance project. There are dedicated people who take on these tasks and we appreciate their attention to the house of the Lord.
